Children see me coming. I have no other explanation. My predisposition to dislike howler monkeys is well known - and apparently I have some sort of magnetic attraction to the two-foot-tall, screaming, germ-carrier, miniature versions of the badly behaved parental units. They flock to my places where my sanity skates on a knife edge.
I kept trying to take this nice shot of the moon in the top left corner of the screen but my phone kept being out of focus. I finally got the bright idea to brace my hands against the otherwise useless luggage rack on my car and take a steady shot. That's when I noticed a veritable SWARM of mosquitoes trying their level best to make me dinner. I flubbed the first shot because one skeeter was doing the best Dracula impression I've seen in years. I deleted the pic and tried again and it was like the whole skeeter neighborhood joined in. I braced my arms and snapped. It is not a good photo, but I will live to photograph badly again another day!
I've been trying to take more photos, and I was struck by how this one particular crack in my apartment parking lot resembled a Japanese ideogram. Find beauty in the most unique places!
This is the waterfall on the front of the new Naples Daily News building on
Immokalee Road during a rainstorm. The building is designed so that the rain
pours off the roof and is funneled through the V-shape into a waterfall into
an underground well. The design is spectacular - and the noise is too!

There are plenty of variations on that trope that friends will be there with bail money, but real friends will be sitting beside you in the cell going "Dang, that was fun!" There's a point in your life when you finally realize what that means - and I reached that point tonight. One of my nearest and dearest friends came over to my apartment and between the two of us, we disassembled one bed, took another queen size bed apart and moved the queen size bed the entire length of my apartment complex IN THE RAIN and re-built the queen size bed in my tiny cramped bedroom.
One of my very best friends sacrificed two hours of her time and multiple mosquito bites to help me move a bed Monday. Here's our story!
I was jolted awake from a nap around 4 pm by a blast of thunder and the accompanying storm. What happened to the morning sunshine?
